Instead of honoring diversity, we often demonize it. Because we desire to be good people, we cope by saying "that's just THEIR opinion. I politely agree to disagree."
Meanwhile, our hearts are anything but kind. We are othering someone based on things we do not fully understand. When your mind tries to play the "us" and "them" game, recognize you may be othering based on bias. If you are, there is spiritual healing to be done.

You Can... - be charitable - show love all the time - have pure intentions - have a diverse community - be asking a genuine question - be a partner, parent, friend, sibling - be an activist, social worker, teacher, journalist, healthcare provider ...And Still Commit Harm Goodness Does Not Negate Harm
Our value is not on how perfect we pretend to be, but by how sincerely we can correct our mistakes. Love is not perfect. Love is kind. Love rejoices in the truth. Love does not insist on its own way When confronted with your harm, resist the urge to view harm as a matter of opinion. Resist speaking on how hard it is to be held accountable. Speaking up against harm is already difficult, especially when it is from a loved one. Being harmed is always worse. |
