Accountability: Goodness Does Not Negate Harm

Published by JaneƩ Nealey, Founder of Queer Ministry

You Can...

  • be charitable
  • show love all the time
  • have pure intentions
  • have a diverse community
  • be asking a genuine question
  • be a partner, parent, friend, sibling
  • be an activist, social worker, teacher, journalist, healthcare provider

...And Still Commit Harm

Goodness Does Not Negate Harm

Our value is not on how perfect we pretend to be, but by how sincerely we can correct our mistakes.

Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love rejoices in the truth.
Love does not insist on its own way.

When confronted with your harm, resist the urge to view harm as a matter of opinion. Resist speaking on how hard it is to be held accountable. Speaking up against harm is already difficult, especially when it is from a loved one. Being harmed is always worse.
